Six Killed, One Injured As Security Men Raided A Community In Imo State | Nigeria News Today

 

Not less than six individuals has been killed and several others injured as joint team of Nigerian Army and the Men of Ebubeagu security raided Umutanzi community in Orlu Local Giverment Area Of Imo State. 

It was reported that the incident occurred around 16:00hrs where the said security agents invaded the community, shooting sporadically in Thursday morning. 

This process lead to a great fear as the resident ran helter skelter in fear of been picked by a stray bullet. Some took into the Bush while some ran to their house which has caused them to sustained injury in the process. 

It was learnt that many doors and windows has been completely damaged as the security agent opened fire on them. 

According to a witness, Pastor Anthony Akatta who is also a resident said it is more than seven hours that the invaders laid siege of the community and they left with few numbers of youth who are yet to be accounted for as of that time. 

He said:

"At about 16:00hrs on Thursday, some security personnel joined force with Ebubeagu, they came to our community here in Umutanzi. 

Every road that leads to our community was blocked by them and they have killed not less than six people as well as gotten one other injured. They also have taken few numbers away. 

They also got a lot of glasses, doors and cars that were parked. They all left around 11am after their operation. 

While Captain Joseph Akubo who is the spokesperson of the 34 Artillery Bridge was reached to confirmed the raid, he said no soldiers were involve in the operation but was rather carried out by the Department of Security Service. 

The Orlu and Orsu which is said yo have been the strong hold of the Eastern Security Outfit has always come under inversion of the security agencies since early last year and this has caused the death of many people in the community.
