Only 7 States Are Clean In Nigera:Reports |Nigeria News Today

 


A report made by the National Technical Study Group for the Neatness performance of a nation index rating has shown the clean states as well as other dirty states on Nigeria. 

According to the report, the sates which score more than 15% of 30% on road and street cleanliness indicator and can be regard dirty-free includes; Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Abuja, Bauchi, Ebonyi and Kaduna. 

The above association are in a state of worrisome as they continue to imagine why a country of only 270 million has overtaken a highly populated country like India which dominate about 17.7% of the world population and has the highest ranking in open defecation. 

The report said that according to it's performance indicator, it's obvious that over 172.7 million Nigerians live in dirty environment in the year 2020. Also, it's only four states out of 36 states of the federation namely Oyo, Bauchi, Lagos and Abuja that practices sanitary landfills while the remaining states uses open dumping. 

The association added that this development is too worrisome and calls for mediate intervention of the federal government as well as concern states in addressing thr menace. 

The report also note that only three stated namely; Abuja, Cross River and Akwa Ibom scored above 3% of 10% on term of personal hygiene and are the only states that csm be considered to have come close to possession of measurable amount of personal hygiene and sanitation practices in Nigeria. 

Moreover, if put on the average, there are only four states, namely;  Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna and Ebonyi that has scored more than 40% on the indicator of street and road cleanliness. 

"As seen from satellite imagery about 95% of stated and towns in Nigeria has absolutely poor performance of street and road cleanliness, waste management service, vegetation control and distilling, general opinion pool and knowledge and attitude as well as good hygiene and sanitation practice. States like Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi and Kaduna are however exempted as they have stepped-up environment activities in the year 2021."
