Edun Directed To Peovide Minimum Wage Template In Two Days



President Bola Tinubu has instructed Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to furnish the financial implications for a prospective new minimum wage within a span of two days.


This directive was issued during a gathering at the presidential villa in Abuja, where Tinubu convened with the government's negotiating team, spearheaded by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.


Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this development during an interview with reporters subsequent to the closed-door session on Tuesday.


Idris conveyed that the President had convened with the representatives of the Federal Government involved in the minimum wage negotiations with labor. He elucidated, “The president recently convened a session comprising all stakeholders who negotiated on behalf of the federal government. Present were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Budget Planning, the Minister of Information, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, the Minister of Labour, and the GMD of NNPC.


“We collectively deliberated on various aspects, and the President has instructed the Minister of Finance to calculate the financial details and report back within the next day or so, ensuring that we are equipped with precise figures for negotiations with labor.”
