Nigeria Air To Begin Operation Before May 29- Aviation Minister

The Nigerian government plans to start local and international flights soon, despite disagreements about starting the national airline, Nigeria Air. Hadi Sirika, the aviation minister, announced this at the National Aviation Stakeholders Forum 2023 in Abuja on Thursday.

The government is negotiating with the Ethiopian Airlines Group Consortium, and the next step is for the Federal Executive Council to approve the Full Business Case. The minister believes that flights will start before May 29, the end of the administration.

The national carrier will provide benefits such as reduced capital flight, an aviation hub, and better use of BASA and SAATM. It will also contribute to the country's GDP, improve tourism, develop the agricultural sector, and create jobs.
